Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue win People of the Year award

THE tremendous work carried out by The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service has been acknowledged with a People of the Year Award.
The annual awards ceremony took place on Monday night last in the Burlington Hotel and the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service were nominated under the group category by Eileen McHale from the parish of Knockmore, Ballina Co. Mayo.
Chairman Peter Govern expressed his pleasure at receiving such a prestigious award, which was presented to him by the Tanaiste Ms. Mary Harney TD who presented a total of seven awards on the night.
Speaking afterwards Mr Govern said, ‘ It is a great honour for the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and we would like to thank the many people who supported us over the last 10 years.’
There were a number of excellent people nominated for awards from all over the country and the members of Boyne Rescue were delighted to be acknowledged in this way.
