New jeep joy for rescue team
Drogheda Independent - Friday June 15th 2001
THE Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service were delighted last week when three local businessmen presented the group with a new jeep.
The businessmen, who wish to remain anonymous, decided to donate the Trooper four wheel drive jeep to acknowledge the importance of the work the fishermen do.
‘We were delighted and surprised to be presented with the jeep,’ said Michael Hodgins of the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service.
‘It is very generous gesture and it will be much-used. Before all we had was a van but the jeep means that we have more space to carry things and more comfort while we are travelling on long journeys throughout the country,’ he added.
The Boyne Fishermen also received a cheque for £1,060 from the proceeds of a raffle held in the Bridgeford.
Francis Hand was the winner of a shirt belonging to Gary Kelly and signed by all the members of the Leeds team. The money will go towards the purchase of three new diving suits.
