THE Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service (BFRRS) and the Meath Fishermen’s Rescue divisions were recently presented with funds raised by the family and friends of the late Andrew McNeice.
The presentation took place in the Castle Inn, Ardee on Wednesday night last and both groups would like to thank everyone who showed their support, not just on the night of the benefit but also during the search.
They also expressed their thanks to John Joe, Martina and everyone in the Castle Inn, the committee members, the business people who sponsored prizes for the auction and raffle, the people who fundraised and to everyone who supported the benefit night in any way.
‘We are a completely voluntary service which travels nationwide on search and recovery missions. We would never be able to do our work without people like you,’ said a spokesperson.
‘Thank you for taking the time and trouble to help us. Such kindness and generosity is greatly appreciated. Wednesday night was made even more special for us when we were able to announce officially at the presentation in the Castle Inn, Ardee that the Meath River Rescue had now joined the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service and would now be known as the Meath Fishermen’s Rescue Division.’
She said this move will ensure that an even stronger service is provided when necessary.
‘Finally I would like to pay tribute to all Andrew’s friends. These young people showed such strength and character.’
