Missing Ardee Man, Distraught Family's Appeal For Information

By Ann Casey, Meath Chronicle 24th January 2004

THE distraught family of a missing 20-year-old Ardee man have appealed for anyone who may have any information on his whereabouts to contact Ardee Garda Station.

Andrew McNeice, a son of Oliver and Margaret McNeice of Cuchulaiim Terrace, Ardee, was last seen in the town in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was wearing a white shirt, brown corduroy trousers and suede shoes. The apprentice electrician is six feet tall with cropped brown hair, blue eyes and very pale complexion.

A major search is underway for the young man, including a search of the River Dee, but the family haven't given up all hope of finding him alive. His aunt, Marion Kennedy, said that all the family were greatly distressed and, in particular, Andrew's parents and brother, Robert.

She appealed to anyone who may have seen Andrew on Saturday night or Sunday morning or who may have given him a lift from Ardee to contact Ardee Garda Station.

She said that the family were continuing to pray that he would be found alive.

His aunt said that Andrew was a lovely young man. "I have four daughters and I have always thought that if! had boys, I would like them to be like Andrew and Robert," she said.

Meanwhile, the Boyne Rescue Service has been carrying out an extensive search of the River Dee, which flows through the centre of Ardee. The rescue service has also being dragging the Boyne near Townley Hall, between Drogheda and Slane, in a separate search for a missing Drogheda woman.
