Family of tragic Jordan present brand new boat

THE Boyne Fishermen's Rescue & Recovery Service were honoured at a ceremony in Kiliough, Co. Down over the weekend for their efforts in recovering the body of 14.-year old Jordan Murdock last February.

During the ceremony representatives form Boyne Fishermen's Rescue & Recovery Service (BFRRS) were presented with a new 5.5 metre rib boat, two drysuits, 2 VHF handheld radios and a cheque for £500 on behalf of Jordan's family and the people of Killough.

The boat was later blessed and named 'Jordan' after the teenager as requested by Jordan's family.

A spokesperson for the BFRRS said, "All our members were very grateful and delighted with the presentation. We weren't expecting anything like this, maybe just a small cheque"

"The new boat is a great addition to the BFRRS and will now be used by our diving unit to provide immediate coverage on the River Boyne and in searches nationwide'

The spokesperson concluded, "It was the family's wish to have to boat based in Drogheda in the hope that it would help safe lives on the River Boyne'

Also in attendance at the ceremony were reporters from ITV, RTE and the BBC.

The BFRR joined hundreds of volunteers and rescue services from all over the country last January in search of the coastline for the body of Jordan who was tragically swept out to sea.

On 1st February, three weeks after the teenager went missing, divers from the BFRRS found the body amongst rocks just 200 yards from where he entered the sea

The BFRRS once again extended their sincere deepest sympathies to all of Jordan's family and relatives and thanked the whole Killough community for their kind generosity and hospitality over the weekend.
