Busy night for the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service and the Gardai in Drogheda

Two people were rescued from the river Boyne in Drogheda last night. The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service received an emergency callout around 12.30 a.m. when a man was seen in the water at St Mary’s Bridge in Drogheda. A passing taxi driver threw a life ring in to the man. The Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service were on the scene within minutes. Two of the rescue crew jumped into the water and held the man until the boat arrived. Gardai were also on the scene.
There was second emergency callout at around 5.00 a.m. GARDAI, assisted by the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service rescued a man from the river, at Wellington Quay near the post office in Drogheda.
Both men were taken to our lady of Lourdes hospital, by ambulance for treatment.
