Body of missing woman recovered from River Suck

THE BODY of a 32-year-old Castlerea woman who had been missing for five weeks has been recovered from the River Suck. Deirdre Conneely who was reported missing five weeks ago, had been living in a HSE residential centre in Castlerea at the time of her disappearance. Her body was found by The Boyne Fisherman Rescue Service at approximately 3:15pm on Sunday last during an organised search. The discovery took place near Willowbrook bridge, Cloondacarra one mile from the town between Castlerea and Ballymoe "Searches have been on-going since Ms Conneely was reported missing and a sincere word of thanks must go to those who helped in the search over the past number of weeks," said Sergeant Pat Hynes, of Castlerea Garda Station.
"In particular to the Lough Ree Sub Aqua Unit and the Boyne Fisherman Rescue Services for the enormous amount of time in energy and time they gave to the search and also to Roscommon Civil Defence and the hundreds of volunteers in Castlerea and the county of Roscommon who gave of their time to help find Ms Conneely. Ms Conneely had been missing since Monday, May 18th when she left her home in Williamstown Road, Castlerea at 7:30a.m. She was due to get a train that morning from Castlerea to Roscommon but was reported missing later that evening. In recent weeks Gardai had been concentrating their search in and around the River Suck area. A post mortem on the body was carried out yesterday afternoon at University College Hospital in Galway. The deceased is survived by her parents, one sister and two brothers.
