Drowning
Pull the person out of the water and make him/her lie on his/her back. If there's danger of neck or back injuries, you should provide good support for the head and let the person float on the back until help arrives. While the person is still in the water, you can begin mouth to mouth resuscitation but in case he/she needs a cardiac massage, he/she has to be pulled out of the water immediately, no matter if help has arrived or not. The expulsion of water isn't necessary before you start, but you have to start CPR as soon as possible.
Cry to people present in the area for help. However, you must start CPR without delay. If you're the only help available in the area, you must take one minute to attend to the patient before dialling 112 – Emergency or before seeking help.
Open up the windpipe by bending the head back. Check the respiration by putting your ear close to the person's respiratory organs and checking if the chest moves. If the person doesn't breath, apply CPR.
